FREE Employer Engagement Events across the Eastern region

Skills for Care are running a series of free events across the region, in order for employers to find out more about the work they do, and specifically about:

  • The QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) – how qualifications are changing and how it affects employers
  • Apprenticeships – growing our own and finding our future workforce
  • The NMDS-SC (National Minimum Data Set): how to update your information in order to meet the criteria for funding of staff training through Skills for Care’s TSI funding
  • Recruitment and Retention initiatives.

    Health & Social Care Conference in February/ Call for Papers

    Skills for Care is holding an event on Tuesday 14 September to launch the new qualifications - part of the qualifications and credit framework (QCF).

    The event will give employers, training providers, publishers and any others with an interest, the opportunity to look at what qualifications and units are available and to ask any questions to our panel of experts.

    The event is free to attend. However, registration is required - please complete the short registration form on this page of the Skills for Care website.

    'in-Control and Me': Self-Directed Support training for advice-giving organisations

    When:    Tuesday 3rd August, 10.30am to 3.30pm
    Where:   The Meadows Community Centre, 1 St Catherine’s Road, Cambridge, CB4 3XJ.

    This training aims to give you a clear understanding of the model, ethics and principles of Self-Directed Support, including how it is being implemented. A personal story presented by a citizen is included. You will also be introduced to the in-Control fact sheets and how to make best use of them. Visit: www.in-control.org.uk/factsheets.

    Personal Budgets for Older People - Making it Happen

    Important communication about the upcoming multi-organisational conference:

    Please see below information for an upcoming event on 14th June - Personal Budgets and Older People - Making it Happen. We are limited to just over 80 places and I am expecting the event to be oversubscribed.

    However, I am specifically allocating a proportion of places at this event to attendees from provider organisations working with and for older people following on from the three sub-regional provider-focused events.

    I am aware from reading through the evaluation forms from events that there were a number of people who attended from organisations or businesses working with older people and who commented about the lack of presentations and information concerning older people.

    I would therefore like to extend this invitation to some of you to attend this event if interested.

    Raising Aspirations and Growing the Workforce Conference

    We are pleased to confirm that the Raising Aspirations and Growing the Workforce Conference: engaging with young people aged 14-19 in health and social care, will take place on 30 June 2010 at the Belfry Hotel, Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, CB23 6BW.

    Registration commences at 9.30am, with the conference starting at 10am. Refreshments and lunch will be provided with the conference summary and close taking place at 3.20pm.

    Booking forms should be completed and returned to eventseastern@skillsforcare.org.uk the closing date for booking form submission is 11 June 2010. Please note this conference is free to attend.

    Delegates are invited to include their own case studies or examples of good practice, which may be used at the conference. When completing your booking form you will find a section on page 3 for this purpose.

    Thinking Outside the Box Conference

    We are pleased to announce that the joint Skills for Health, Skills for Care and Skills for Care & Development ‘Thinking outside of the box’ conference will be held on the 8th and 9th June 2010 at the Hilton in Gateshead.

    The cost of the conference will be £99 for two days including food and one night’s accommodation. Special half price offer - if you book & pay for the full event by the 10th April you only pay £49!

    National Apprenticeship Service One-Day Conference      (Posted: 11/12/09)

    In partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, Skills for Care (SfC) are delighted to announce a one-day conference and exhibition on Tuesday 2 February 2010 at The Cambridge Belfry Hotel (College Suite), Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, CB23 6BW.

    As many of you will already be aware, the first week of February is Apprenticeships Week and this free event is a great way to get involved.

    Launch of the National e-learning in End of Life Care for All (e-ELCA) Initiative
